For the first time in Africa, the Ghana Gold Expo on Committee for Conservation and land reclamation will award legends and organizations that are supporting in Galamsey reclamation & mercury recovery across Africa. This is a unique award that seek to recognize excellence in surface and deep mining in Africa.

Reclamation may involve returning a mined site to a more natural state through recontouring or revegetation, technology or adapting the site to a beneficial end use. Since Ghana has signed on to the Minamata Convention agreement to promote zero mercury in gold production and ensure safe environment, this awards will be presented annually to mining stakeholders forcefully expressing support to them and government agencies for enforcing the mining laws.
