The Ghana Gold Report 2021

$50.00

Ghana has a long history of mining ,with gold accounting for about 90% of the country’s mineral exports. The sector contributes significantly to the country’s economic development in terms of revenue generation, foreign direct investments (FDI), job creation among others. However, the country has not made maximum gains from this commodity due to illegal mining and continuous exportation of unrefined minerals. The Ghana Mining Week 2021 therefore, brought together the industry regulators, large and small-scale miners, mineral processors, mining surveyors, environmental management experts, equipment manufacturers, banking and financial consultants and academia to craft a new course for the industry.

The Western Regional Minister, Hon Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, lauded the President of Ghana, Nana Akuffo-Addo’s approval and support for the project. The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor, said the government is willing to respect the sanctity of its contractual obligations, as that is a catalyst for building international investor confidence in the country. The Vice President, H. E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stressed the need to ensure inclusive and sustainable development of mining communities. He said the government is determined to enforce the laws of responsible and ethical mining which will go a long way to boost the development of the mining communities of the country. This report gives a detailed account of the various activities of the Ghana Mining Week 2021, including the speeches and presentations of guest speakers and industry experts.
