About Ghana Gold Expo

Mining Week -Ghana Gold Expo Foundation since 2018 has become a household name when it comes to Responsible Sourcing Initiatives in Africa. We are strategically positioned as the first mining policy platform in Africa to provide insights and policies into central bank gold reserves optimization, Government, Refiners sources of gold and also to consider gold as liquid asset for foreign reserve management as part of the new strategy for financial stability and world economies by 2035.

Do NOT see us as your enemy rather your collaborator through monitoring Gold Refineries, Assay and Vault Centres, Regulatory Services Offices, Jewelry Manufacturing Centre and Mining operations by acting as independent “watchdogs” to verify that sourcing practices align with international ethical standards based on our affiliation with international organizations and  local participation.

Our Involvement in Supply Chain Ethics since 2018
for Gold Sourcing and Critical Minerals Standards in Africa

We provide ongoing property maintenance which includes lawn mowing, fertilizing, spring and fall cleanups, de-thatching, aerating, seeding, mulching, edging, herbicide application, plant health care, snow plowing, pruning, and tree care and removal.

Independent Audits and Assessments:

the foundation conduct on-site inspections, worker interviews, and reviews of internal company records to verify compliance with human rights and environmental regulations. We also serve as organizations third-party verifiers for certifications under charters like Fairtrade Gold or the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP). Launched March 2018 together with The Western Regional Coordinating Council, Ghana.

Desk Research and Public Disclosure Review:

in 2020 we worked with three refineries in Africa to analyze their publicly available reports, transparency disclosures, and risk management policies to identify inconsistencies or gaps in their due diligence this led us to nominate Gold Coast Refinery to become a member of the RJC.

On-the-Ground Supply Chain Mapping

By establishing assessment teams at mining sites, trading hubs, and transportation routes, we fact-checked a refinery’s and central banks claims about where their gold originates, particularly in high-risk or conflict-affected areas. Launched in July 2021 with Private flyers in Kaduna, Nigeria and in Ghana-The Domestic Purchase Gold Programme, BANK OF GHANA,Kenya, Rwanda, Mauritania, Chad and El Salvador.

Traceability and Technology Monitoring:

we have designed, developed and promoted our own tools like the ASM Minerals Reporting Template (ASM-MRT) that led to blockchain-based tracking systems to monitor the flow of gold and flag “red flags” such as irregular payments or inconsistent documentation with our Japanese and Swiss development firms since 2021.

Grievance Mechanisms and Whistleblower Protection:

In July 2022 Forbes Monaco recognizes the Foundation as the No.1 Mining Policy Foundation which often establish confidential channels for workers and local communities to report abuses, such as child labor or environmental damage, which may otherwise be hidden from official mining operational audits.

Advocacy and Public Reporting:

Every year, we  publish reports and launch campaigns to expose unethical practices, pressuring stakeholders to adopt stronger OECD Due Diligence Guidance. As well as promoting Zero Mercury usage.
