Managing Director, Veolia Ghana Ltd

A graduate of the French Engineering School, CPE LYON, France, Laurent Piat began his career in 2002 as a Sales Engineer at the GE Water Process Technologies before joining Veolia Paris Head Office (France) in 2007 where he was a Project support & Cost Engineer in the construction of the Sydney Desalination Plant, 250 MLD / Gold Coast Desalination Plant, 125 MLD and the Fujairah II desalination plant, 135 MLD.
He was later promoted to Deputy Site Manager in Aruba (Carribean) for the construction and operation of the ARUBA desalination plant, 24 MLD.
Two years later he was appointed as Contract & Tender Manager for Veolia North America in the specialised field of brine & salt management.
In 2014 Laurent Piat joined Veolia Australia New Zealand as the Head of Projects for the new Operations Establishment across Industrial & Municipal Water, Waste to Energy, Resource Recovery and Solar power generation activities. During this period, he has held the position of Project Director to finance, design, build and operate a brine & salt management facility for a significant development project related to coal mine operation which was facing environmental compliance issues due to uncontrolled effluent discharge in the Sydney drinking water catchment. Since 2019 till date, he remains the Managing Director for Veolia Ghana Limited.
